Central Iowa Chapter - Volunteer Opportunity
Have you ever thought of trying your hand at volunteering?
- Do you want to expand your network?
- Would you like to get involved with the Project Management Institute Central Iowa Chapter (PMI CIC)?
- Have you ever thought of working with your peers in a fun filled atmosphere where the force guiding you is not directly related to any appraisal?
Collaborate to Succeed (C2S) - is a volunteer program sponsored by the PMI-CIC that supports member project managers engaging with local not-for-profit organizations to the benefit of all involved – organization, volunteer, chapter, and community. The goal is to provide project management services and/or advise organizations on how they can use project management methodology to get more value out of their projects. We have two projects that we need help with in 2019:
• Iowa State University project dating from January 2019 through May 2019.
• Grandview University project dating from March 2019 through April 2019.
Military to Project Management Program - The program focuses on refining the project talents of veterans and current military members, educating organizations on the value and relevance of military experience, and connecting the two groups to create a win-win solution.
The program includes a combination of self-development and certification preparation resources, workshops, mentorship, employer awareness events, and networking opportunities.
We are seeking people willing to support this program in various ways:
• Recruiters and hiring managers for resume reviews and mock interviews.
• Mentors with or without military backgrounds to help introduce candidates to various industries and coach them through placement, qualification for testing, and exam preparation.
• Advocates to raise awareness with employers, through individual and small group meetings and presentations.
PDD volunteer - PMI CIC is holding its annual Professional Development Day (PDD) in September of this year. We are looking for volunteers to help us organize this event working with a dedicated team of experienced leads who will guide you along the way. This opportunity will help you test the volunteering waters without getting overwhelmed with it. The volunteers will not only get PDUs but also get the added perks of a specially designed event shirt and participation promotional gifts.
