The Central Iowa Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) announced the donation of numerous project management reference materials to area libraries and colleges to allow members of the local community the ability to enhance their knowledge of project management and grow their professional development.
The goal of the donation was to make project management resources available to the community free of charge, and includes Project Management Professional (PMP) exam preparation materials and software. According to Dee Pink, VP of Education and Certification for the Central Iowa Chapter, "We have had numerous requests for these types of materials that typically cannot be found in either business libraries or public libraries. We felt that the best way we could serve the interests of the community was by making materials available at no cost, in accessible locations".
The Urbandale Public Library, Public Library of Des Moines, West Des Moines Public Library, Ankeny Kirkendall Public Library, Des Moines Area Community College of Ankeny, Grand View College , and Simpson College West Des Moines Campus were the recipients of the donations in 2001, 2002 and 2003, which totaled nearly $11,000. The materials are a collection of some of the most current and progressive authors available, and include material targeted for both those wanting to learn about project management for the first time, as well as material for seasoned project managers and business leaders.
The Central Iowa Chapter of PMI is a not for profit organization that was chartered in 1992, is one of the fastest growing chapters in the U.S., and hosts a variety of meetings, seminars, and training sessions for project management professionals.
