Cutoffs and Deadlines
Do you sign up for events early or do you wait until the last minute? If you are one of those last minute people or maybe even an after the deadline person, you may ask, "Why is there a deadline?" Believe it or not, cutoff dates and deadlines are important form a logistical perspective.
Typically the deadline to register for a PMI Central Iowa Chapter event occurs at noon on the Monday before the event. Our Chapter Meetings, for example, are held on Thursday. This leaves less than three (3) days (if it is a luncheon meeting) to get things done before the event. The PMI-CIC Board is made up of volunteers. One of the positions on the board is the Director of Registration. Within those three days, this person has to prepare the name badges and get ready to mark down everyone who attends.
All of us work, so why not later in the day on Monday? Typically, our caterers want the final numbers by 1 pm on the Monday before the event. This gives them time to order ingredients and prepare for the meal. The Director of Registration provides the final numbers to the Director of Logistics so they can work with the venue and caterer to make sure everything is set up correctly.
Do you have additional questions? You can contact either the Director of Registration (dirregistration@pmi-centraliowa.org) or the Director of Logistics (dirlogistics@pmi-centraliowa.org). The PMI Central Iowa Chapter Board of Directors is here to serve the 800+ members they represent.
