CHAPTER MEETING SPONSORED BY
Project teams have been using agile techniques and approaches in various forms for several decades, yet there remains significant confusion around what it really means to be agile in implementing projects. Therefore, for our May 16th Chapter Meeting, we have gathered a panel of local professionals to help provide clarification. The panel includes:
- Andrea Brunk, PMP, Assistant Vice President Project Management Office at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. Andrea's Agile contributions will take into account her journey that began in earnest three years ago when she took on the task of building from scratch the PMO at Grinnell Mutual. The extensive overhaul included new Enterprise Architecture and Software Quality Assurance teams, Process Excellence efforts leveraging Six Sigma and Lean, formalized IT Service Management, and, of course, an Agile mindset.
- Mike Wemhoff, Development Lead at John Deere. When we started talking about putting the Agile panel discussion together, multiple members told us we need to include Mike. With his vast experience with the Agile approach to software development, he will be a significant contributor to our event.
- Bryan Gill, an experienced Software Architect and now a Product Owner as the Director of the Digital Experience at Berkley Technology Services. Given Bryan's agile software development and product ownership experience, combined with his critical thinking and problem solving abilities, he will be a great addition to our panel discussion.
- Don Kerr, Past President of PMI Central Iowa Chapter. Don began his foray into Agile back in 2001 when he was brought on to John Deere Financial to help stand up a new agile and eCommerce division as a proof of concept. He has acted as a project manager, scrum master, and a leader of project managers while clarifying Project Manager / Scrum Master interactions.
