PMI-CIC May Chapter Meeting Luncheon
Mike Wemhoff, Panelist, Discusses Implementing the Agile Project Management Approach in Central Iowa
Project teams have been using agile techniques and approaches in various forms for several decades, yet there remains significant confusion around what it really means to be agile in implementing projects. Therefore, for our May 16th Chapter Meeting, we have gathered a panel of local professionals to help provide clarification. One of the four panelists is:
Mike is a Developer Lead for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG). Mike has led agile teams for the last 7 years of his career. He is passionate about solving customer problems and leading global teams to solve complex problems.
Mike started working on agile teams right out of college during his first job for Cerner corporation. In 2008, Mike took a job at John Deere Financial. During this opportunity he had the chance to work on the first team to implement Agile with IT and business partners. Mike spent his time working closely with the business to break down problems into manageable pieces that his development team could implement.
In 2015 Mike took on his current role as Developer Lead for the Systems organization of ISG at John Deere. Mike has been able to implement agile across multiple scrum. In addition, he has built a cross functional team located in Urbandale and India. Mike is also a release manager across his organization serving as the main point of contact for deployments and releases. With his leadership across multiple teams he has seen many implementations of agile and scrum. He has learned how much agile can differ from team to team and remain successful.
